Golden Nugget #1 Results & Photos

It turns out that this race produced the most riders we've ever had! We hoped for 10 women riders but they must've been out of town or something... we know they'll be out next time. Thanks to everyone who came out. As you know this is only the first race in the series, so we look forward to seeing everyone on February 25th for The Golden Nugget #2.

A big thanks goes out to Dank Bags, Counterbalance Bicycles, Bikestation, Tat's Delicatessen, and Spirit Skate Shop for kicking down the goods. We are grateful for all of our volunteers who ran checkpoints, handled registration, and took photos and video throughout the race. Look forward to a Golden Nugget series movie from Kelly White as well as a TON of photos and some video from mP.

The race started at Wa Leg on 4th, around 7pm. The racers all sprinted to the Five Point to get their first manifest and mobbed directly to 601 Union. There they met Chris King at the Asian bell in Freeway park, and were lured by the Golden Nugget, so they all kissed it. Ali knocked it over and put it back upside down... then everyone dropped down to Bikestation, and up to 633 Yesler to get manifest #2. Apparently, nearly everyone walked up Yesler. Bitches. So then they had to visit Dead Baby at the Harbor Steps before rolling to Pier 66 for a date with the Dirty Buzzards. Tallbikes, minibikes... we don't know, we weren't there.

By the time bikes were making it back to Wa Leg and on to the finish we we're waiting out in front of The Lobo. Byron was the first one in, but he had a manifest issue. Everyone showed up at the finish, and thankfully, Messmann survived the race. Thanks to Brandon for sacrificing precious race time to help. Thanks also, to the women who did show up to ride.

A few people started hitting the ball about 9:30 and it was great. Polo went on the entire night, until we gave away the nugget...well, okay, it didn't stop then. Listed below are the results. Next week, we'll post the media here as well. See you in February, thanks again. All photos on this page by Rob Kittilson.
