Events| UpcomingNew Belgium Urban Assault Ride - Seattle, Wa
Sunday, May 18th, 2008 Fremont Outdoor Cinema @ 3501 Phinney Avenue N The Urban Assault Ride™ is a funky bike scavenger hunt that involves street-smart riding, obstacle courses, and a huge after party. Mental muscle is just as important as bike skills as teams of 2 choose their own course to checkpoints around the city. The event is well known for its checkpoints where physical and mental obstacle courses must be completed before moving on. Kinda like American Gladiators with a demented cycling twist. The first team to hit all of the checkpoint and cross the finish line wins! Then the party begins with FREE BEER and lots more two-wheeled shenanigans! It is THE MOST FUN you will ever have on a bike. New Belgium Urban Assault Ride - Portland, OR

SUBMISSION DETAILS AND FESTIVAL INFO: Yuri's Night Global - Seattle - Seattle,WA
9404 East Marginal Way South @ 7pm - The Museum of Flight Boeing Museum of Flight Yuri's Night Global is a celebration of space and the future. It is about honoring all the people who, each day, find new ways to reach space, to discover it and to colonize it. It can be a celebration of history but is not intended to glorify a particular person's or country's achievements. Yes, it is named after the first man in space, Russian cosmonaut Yuri Gagarin, but this is because he was the first to experience the terror and exquisiteness of being so tiny among such a visibly great expanse of stars and planets and to know, tangibly, that it was possible to reach those other places. Yuri's Night exists to create a feeling of global togetherness as well as impart knowledge about mankind's progress. Did you know that we have flown seven times the speed of sound? Did you know that there are LCD screens that are flexible and as thin as a piece of paper? Did you know that a small private company has created a spaceship that can take off and land like an airplane and that a spaceliner company has been established so you can buy tickets and take your family on a day trip into space? We would like to encourage you to learn about your world and how to take part in decisions that are pivotal to creating a healthy future on and off Earth. Yuri's Night Global joins hundreds of thousands of people all over the world as they make a toast to the worldwide coexistence of peace and progress towards the goal of space colonization and discovery; together as one humanity.
